Minister of Energy meets head of IMF mission

Minister of Energy His Excellency Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza received in his NOGA office an IMF delegation led by Ms. Badajma Kahandelu. The group was visiting Bahrain to prepare the report on the economic situation in the Kingdom. The NOGA General Secretary Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Sharyan and Advisors to Minister’s Office Eng. Anwar S. Khalaf, Eng. Abdul Hussain Monfaridy and Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Karim attended the meeting.



H.E. Dr. Mirza began the meeting, welcoming the delegation in the Kingdom, and wishing them a pleasant stay in Bahrain and success in achieving their goals during the visit.



The Minister made an audio-visual presentation to the delegation, highlighting all NOGA investment projects starting with the Bahrain Oil Field development project, the deep gas project, Bahrain Refinery upgradation project, Bahrain-Saudi pipeline project, the Floating LNG Terminal, as well as the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) projects in Bahrain. The presentation included oil and gas production statistics as well as electricity and water authority data.



The Minister presented a comprehensive idea about the recent oil sector decisions on petroleum products pricing, new rates of electricity and water services, explaining the decision of the government of Bahrain to introduce new rates to increase state revenues from the energy sector. This was being done for the benefit and in the interest of national economy, so as to improve the financial situation in the country as well as to raise the credit rating of the Kingdom of Bahrain.



The delegation head thanked H.E. Dr. Mirza and expressed her appreciation to the Minister for the great opportunity received to share information about oil and gas, electricity, water and supporting projects. The delegation members wished Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
