Energy Minister meets President and members of International Ophthalmology Congress Committee

Minister of Energy His Excellency Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza met in his Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) office Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed, President of the Middle East Africa Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO), Dr. Ebtisam Al Alawi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Dr. Taqi Khalaf, member of the committee. The XIII Middle East and Africa of Ophthalmology Congress will be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center from May 4 to 8, 2016. Mr. Ali A. Jabar Al Sawad, General Manager of Strategies and Planning at NOGA and Dr. Majeed Abdul Karim, Advisor to Minister of Energy were present during the meeting.



The Minister welcomed the delegation and wished them success achieving their goals in the event. He expressed his delight at such conferences being hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He said it would give returns due to the numerous benefits the strategic location provided including wide global participation as in the previous editions held in Bahrain in the past. He said the famous international speakers attending the event to share their winning experiences and knowledge in the field of ophthalmology would draw huge participation from professionals. He praised the organizers’ efforts and commitment in holding the specialist conference in the Kingdom, where participants could take advantage of the technical papers presented and discussed and benefit by raising their competency to advance performance. The conference is expected to attract 4,000 participants from several countries.



Delegation members discussed the conference arrangements and ways to benefit by reinforcing Bahrain's status and its regional role in attracting global events and specialized gatherings which supported the economic sectors in the Kingdom. They also discussed sponsors and supporting organizers of the conference. The event is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Bahrain Ophthalmological Society, International Council of Ophthalmology and University of Maryland.
