Bahrain, Jordan sign MoU on environmental cooperation

​ Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, has stressed the kingdom’s keenness to strengthen environmental cooperation with Jordan.
 
The minister was speaking during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bahrain and Jordan aimed at enhancing cooperation, as well as exchanging information and experiences in all fields related to the environment.
 
The MoU was signed by Bahrain’s Oil and Environment Minister, and Dr. Muawieh Khalid Radaideh, Jordan’s Minister of Environment, on the sidelines of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), hosted by Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
 
Dr. Bin Daina affirmed the solid fraternal relations between Bahrain and Jordan, noting that the MoU aims to strengthen environmental cooperation between the two kingdoms to confront the challenges of climate change, and achieve environmental security with a scientific methodology.
 
Under the MoU, the two countries will cooperate in collecting information related to monitoring air quality, and emissions, as well as monitoring national adaptation plans, and Green Climate Fund programmes, in addition to ways to protect biodiversity, studying environmental impact assessment, proper waste management, and many areas of exchanging scientific knowledge and investing in building and developing environmental staff.
 
The Jordanian minister expressed his country’s pride in its solid deep-rooted fraternal relations with Bahrain, affirming that relations between the two kingdoms have reached advanced levels.
 
The two sides agreed to appoint liaison officers to oversee the implementation of the provisions of the MoU, and facilitate coordination between the two countries in this regard.
