Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, opened on Tuesday 18 April 2017
the 4th Global Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference at the Gulf
Convention Center - Gulf Hotel, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain
during the period from 18 to 20 April 2017. This year's conference which was
held under the theme "Overcoming the Challenges of Today to Build a
Resilient Future" was organized by the highly experienced Iconic Events
Management in cooperation with Bahrain National Gas Company (BNAGAS) and
participation of Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) in coordination with the
National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA).
His Excellency Minister of
Oil said that this conference was a specialized conference and offered a good
opportunity to discuss many important topics related to health, safety and
environment and the latest developments in this field. The presence here of a
large number of renown specialist speakers will enrich this event with their
ideas, knowledge and expertise to the benefit and good of all participants who
represent many industrial sectors including the oil and gas sector that
employees a large workforce.
His Excellency said that
the protection of the environment is of special importance within the
environment, health and safety policies of the oil companies that come under
the supervision of the National Oil and Gas Holding (nogaholding) Company.
Ensuring the maintenance of the highest levels of performance in the area of
health, safety and environment, and accident prevention is one of the main
objectives upon which all the decisions taken by oil companies are to be based.
The adoption of this approach has helped oil companies to repeatedly win
international occupational safety and environment awards, in competition with
international companies over the past years. This is a good proof of the
soundness of the approach adopted my oil companies in the field of health,
safety and environment.
The opening session which
was attended by more than 400 participants was also addressed by Dr. Shaikh
Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain National
Gas Company (Banagas) and Mr. Hafedh Al Qassab, Bapco General Manager Refining
Division and conference co-chairman. The conference attracted more than 75
highly distinguished participants from around the world who discussed more than
48 papers on several important topics in the field of health, safety and
environment.

Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa then opened the accompanying
exhibition. He toured this high- level exhibition in which more than 20
specialized and distinguished international companies took part.
