Minister of Energy Lays Foundation Stone for New Gas Dehydration Facility at Tatweer Petroleum

H.E. Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Energy and Chairman of Tatweer Petroleum, patronized the ground-breaking ceremony of Tatweer’s new 500 MMSCFD Gas Dehydration Facility earlier today, the ceremony was attended by H.E. Shaikh Abdulla Bin Rashid Al Khalifa the Southern Governor.



As part of the Company’s on-going development of the Bahrain oil field, Tatweer Petroleum signed a 100 million dollar agreement with Petrofac, a British company, late last year to construct the new Gas Dehydration Facility. The 500 MMSCFD production capacity facility will include production from 5 existing Khuff gas wells as well as 3 additional new wells.



H.E. Dr Mirza, accompanied by members of the Tatweer Board of Directors, officials from the National Oil and Gas Authority, nogaholding, The Electricity & Water Authority, Bapco and Tatweer Petroleum Management received a briefing at Tatweer Headquarters and then visited the facility site to lay the foundation for the start of construction.



H.E. Dr. Mirza praised Tatweer for breaking ground on yet another major achievement “Tatweer Petroleum continues to make exceptional progress in developing the Bahrain Field. The new gas processing facility is one of a series of planned gas capacity projects scheduled for the next 3 to 5 years, and this facility will be a significant milestone and is a critical piece of Bahrain’s future energy strategy,” said H.E. The Minister.
