Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, participated in the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which was held in Iraq, under the patronage of Mohammed Shayya' Al Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq.

The minister affirmed Bahrain's keenness to participate in global events and activities aimed at strengthening relations with various parties in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries; noting the prestigious position that OPEC has reached, as one of the most prominent and important global organizations.

He said that the establishment of OPEC in 1960 represented a turning point in the energy markets and production, as it strengthened oil decisions and policies, and contributed to the stability of oil markets and securing oil supplies to all consumers at competitive prices.

He added that the signing of the Memorandum of Association (MoA) for the establishment of OPEC in 2023 came to confirm the members' commitment to maintain the stability of global oil markets.

The minister expressed his appreciation to Iraq for hosting the celebration in the same hall in which the founding of OPEC was signed off in 1960, by the five member states, which are Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait and Venezuela, noting the expansion of the organization since then to include 13 oil-producing member states.

He wished continued success for the organization in pursuing its aim of maximizing the benefits from natural resources and protecting them.
