His Excellency
Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, congratulated Their
Excellency the members of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC),
headed by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Ali Al- Sharyan, the Secretary General of
the National Oil and Gas Authority, and in the presence of His Excellency Dr.
Abdul Husain bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Electricity & Water on the occasion
of the Company's bagging the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Innovation
Award at the end of the ninth cycle of the Award for the year 2016.
On this
auspicious occasion, His Excellency the Minister lauded the corporate efforts
in boosting and developing the company's operations and transforming it to the
ranks of global companies. He also commended the plans and programs devised by
the corporate board of directors to maintain the competitive edge amid the
whirlpool of accelerated changes that this vital industry is passing through,
thereby enabling the company to win several prestigious awards and accolades.
By the same
token, His Excellency the Minister praised the Company's move to promote its operations through
adoption and application of the most recent and advanced work systems available
for the benefit of the oil, gas and petrochemical sector and the economies of
participating countries. The company is tantamount to an example of a
successful joint venture between the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia and the State of Kuwait. It is also regarded as one of the most
important and successful joint petrochemical venture at the level of the GCC
states.
On his part,
Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Sharyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf
Petrochemical Industries Company and Secretary General of the National Oil and
Gas Authority expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Shaikh
Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, for the massive interest and
support extended to the company and its operations and future projects. He
highly appreciated the substantial government support intended to enable it to
avail of excellent environment amenable commercial operations and favourable
climate for investment, which encouraged other international companies to
contribute to development and promotion projects.
The company's
win was the result of the remarkable efforts entertained by the company in the
field of social and environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
The company seriously takes its social role and responsibility to others and
goes to great length to minimize the environmental damages secondary to it
operations to attain clean industry where the company is the best example and
epitome at the entire gulf level.
