The Minister of Oil Attends the 22nd WPC in Turkey

H.E. Oil Minister Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, delivered a speech at the 22nd World Petroleum Congress (WPC) about "Partnership for Success" as part of the congress  events that took place in Istanbul, Turkey. (WPC)  was inaugurated on 9 July and continued until 13 July under the theme "Bridges towards the future of energy". It witnessed the presence of the WPC President Dr. Jozsef Toth; Chairman of Turkish Petroleum Company Mr. Besim Sismen Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkish Petroleum Company Minister of energy and natural resources of Turkey and his Russian counterpart Mr. Alexander Novak; India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, in addition to representatives from world energy companies.

The speech of Shaikh mohamed was attended by a range of concerned personnel from governments, non-governmental organizations, international institutions and various industries from across the globe, students as well as young professionals, and a remarkable presence of  the world press (WPC) included roundtable meetings, workshops & technical sessions on the future of conventional and non-traditional energy resources, global energy policies and investment opportunities in the sector, as well as the main challenges facing the oil industry from price fluctuations and changes in the global economy. The exhibition, which is one of the most important events in the world, witnessed the participation of many of the national and international oil and gas companies, as well as a large number of major suppliers, service companies and manufacturers, to display the latest technological innovations from all specialized countries. The exhibition is expected to receive over 20,000 visitors.

The World Petroleum Council (WPC) was established in 1933 and is held every three years in one of the member countries. Bahrain joined it in 2010. The Kingdom participated in the 20th World Petroleum Congress held in Doha in 2011 and the 21st World Petroleum Congress Held in Moscow in 2014.
