Energy Minister reviews future plans of Bahrain National Gas Company (BANAGAS)

Minister of Energy His Excellency Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza received in his office Mr. Yousuf Ali Al Awadhi, Chairman of Board of Directors of Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas), who was accompanied by Mr. Dabbous Mubarak Al Dabbous, Board Director, Boubyan Petrochemical Co. (K.S.C.) and Banagas board member, Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of Banagas, Abdul Majeed Shafee, Chevron Bahrain General Manager and Mr. Bassem Mohamed Battisha, Board Director of the company.



Welcoming the delegation, H.E. Dr. Mirza congratulated Mr. Al Awadi’s appointment as Board Chairman and wished him every success in carrying out his duties well in the new phase. The Minister reviewed future plans of the company, including development work and discussed the overall scope of the oil and gas sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also discussed with the delegation a number of key gas industry issues that required greater focus and challenges the industry could face in the coming years.



Mr. Al Awadi expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his continuous support and follow-ups in the energy sector affairs including oil, gas, electricity and water. He thanked the Minister for his keen interest in developing gas industry in Bahrain in order to ensure the sustainability of the vital resource. He promised that he would not spare any effort in promoting the gas industry, and would work hand in hand with fellow board members and Banagas executive management for the development and advancement of the company.



Banagas is 75% owned by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, 12.5% by Chevron Bahrain and 12.5% by Boubyan Petrochemical Co., a Kuwaiti shareholding company which acquired the share of the Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (Apicorp) in September 2011.
