Minister patronises book launch of ‘Transcendence’ by Dr. Abdul Kalam

Minister of Energy His Excellency Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza launched the book ‘Transcendence’ in the Kingdom of Bahrain written by famous thinker-nuclear scientist and former President of the Republic of India, the late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The ceremony was held in the presence of Ambassador of India H.E. Alok Kumar Sinha with a wide participation of more than 350 invited dignitaries in the field of culture, literature and history, consisting of Bahrainis and Indian residents of Bahrain. The book reveals the spiritual journey of Dr. Kalam and the lessons he learnt in conversations with his guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj and co-authored by Indian scientist Prof. Arun Tiwari.



H.E. Dr. Mirza delivered a speech on the occasion, where he expressed delight to launch the book, which would enrich the scientific, literary and spiritual library, especially as it combined philosophy, literature, values. It was a valuable publication as it was authored by an established social figure such as Dr. Kalam, who has been to the world one of the finest examples to promote culture, literature, administration and good governance. The Minister pointed out that Dr. Kalam had served his country even before he became its President. He praised Dr. Kalam’s efforts in documenting the lessons learned from his spiritual teacher Pramukh Swami Maharaj and put forth for reference and benefit for the coming generations. The Minister expressed delight at the deep cultural ties that bound Bahrain and the friendly Indian Republic.



Sadhu Brahmavihari Das delivered a lecture on the significance of studying the spiritual, moral and cultural foundations of India to better understand the country and its people. He praised the historical ties between Bahrain and India, which he said would be further strengthened with knowledge of India’s historical and cultural heritage. It would help further strengthen people bonding and enable close relations between the two friendly nations. Senior Indian Professor Arun Tiwari, who co-authored the book with Dr. Kalam also spoke at the launch event.



Dr. Kalam was a leading scientist of India who contributed to the development of nuclear energy and enabled the country to join the world nuclear energy club. A scientist and a great visionary, Dr. Kalam was loved and respected by one and all. He was known as India’s Missile Man due to his long association with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), where he played the role of a scientist and science administrator to the hilt, and was actively involved with the country’s space programme and military missile development efforts.
