H.E. The Minister of Oil participates in the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards and Symposium (LEWAS 2020)

H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, participated in the 6th Leadership Excellence for Women Awards and Symposium (LEWAS 2020), which was held through a virtual format under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Oil, from 27-29 October 2020. With the participation of a number of officials, specialists, technicians and academics from around the world in the field of energy, and with the support of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), Society of Petroleum Engineers, Gulf Refining Union, Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and Saudi Aramco.

H.E. the Minister of Oil praised the continued sponsorship of the activities of "LEWAS" for the sixth time, which confirms the care and support enjoyed by women in Bahrain by H.M. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, and the esteemed government. As well as the extent of faith in the abilities and capabilities of Bahraini women in all fields, especially in the field of oil and gas, where Bahraini women have proven their ability to hold a number of important leadership positions in this vital sector.

H.E. the Minister of Oil also praised the great efforts made by H.R.H. Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of H.M. the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women, in terms of the empowerment and advancement of women, and her keenness to promote the reality of women in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to contribute to promoting the principle of equal opportunities to ensure competitiveness and ensure the multiplicity and diversity of options available for the advancement of Bahraini women in the economic and social levels.

H.E. expressed his appreciation for the efforts made in organizing this type of specialized events, which aim to discuss and study ways to develop the role of

women and increase its effectiveness in serving the country, noting that there was a great interest in holding the event despite the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, because of its importance.

H.E. the Minister pointed out that the forum is a scientific and practical platform for learning from women leaders who have achieved remarkable achievements in various fields and communicating with their counterparts in the energy sector and exploring ways to improve their leadership skills as well as learning best practices in this field, wishing all the best success in achieving the desired goals for this event.  

The three-day forum will discuss several topics: flexibility in the field of work and a number of topics related to women leaders in the energy sector, including equal gender opportunities in the field of career and professional development, how to benefit from the expertise of competencies, especially women in everything that advances the oil and gas sector in the region. As well as highlighting issues related to organizational flexibility and redrawing plans and strategies after the Covid-19 pandemic, the required operational flexibility and business continuity, and the need for diversification in organizational adjustment in the era after Covid-19, and ways to balance the pressures of working life and work. 

More than 722 participants from 53 countries around the world participated in the forum, as well as more than 330 companies specializing in this vital field, in order to share information and experiences and listen to success stories that contribute in enhancing the capabilities and develop the productivity of leading women.
