ICCUS 2020 Conference and Exhibition Concludes

The first edition of the International Conference and Exhibition of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (ICCUS 2020) concluded with the participation of 800 participants from the dignitaries of His Excellencies the ministers of oil and energy from various countries of the world and the CEO’s of companies specialized in the oil sector and technicians and academics to discuss the role of carbon capture, utilization and storage in enabling the global carbon economy.
H.E. the Minister expressed his great happiness in the joint organization with the Saudi side and with the participation of a number of ministers of energy from the GCC countries and various countries of the world, in addition to a number of senior officials in international organizations such as OPEC, whose participation in this event was a special addition to exchange positive information, experiences and discussions with a view to finding appropriate and realistic solutions in this regard. In addition to what was discussed in the technical sessions of international efforts to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, as well as implementing a range of voluntary projects and initiatives to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.
H.E. the Minister said that the patronage of this conference by the Kingdom of Bahrain, together with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, came in the belief in the importance of enhancing flexibility and reducing the negative effects of climate change, the economic damage that may result from the response measures, and the need to highlight realistic solutions to decarbonize the atmosphere by deploying carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies (CCUS) and contributing to international efforts to address the issue of climate change, and protecting Bahrain's interests and resources through the circular carbon economy methodology.
In conclusion, H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, thanked H.R.H. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Energy, for the warm welcome and hospitality, and highly appreciated the support by the organizers, which came with the participation of dignitaries who influenced the conference, with their extensive experience and knowledge in this important area. H.E. also thanked and appreciated the participating delegations, specialists, speakers and supporters of this important event for their outstanding efforts in preparing and organizing this important event, wishing everyone all the best.
H.E. the Minister also toured the exhibition accompanying the conference, where he was briefed on the latest technologies and expertise related to environmental matters. H.E. listened to a number of delegations of companies participating in the accompanying exhibition on the most important projects and modern technologies in this vital field, in order to invest these modern technologies in the development of oil projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
