H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, inaugurated the annual conference of District 20 Toastmasters "DTAC 2019" under the slogan "Make Your Glory" on Friday, 26 April 2016 at the Diplomat Radisson Blu hotel, where this conference is organized by the Toastmasters International Organization in cooperation with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), with the support of Tamkeen and a number of local, regional and international companies. A large number of speakers, specialists, technicians and academics from all over the world have participated in this important event with the aim of strengthening capacities and skills in various fields.
At the beginning of his opening address, H.E. the Minister of Oil, was honored for selecting the Kingdom of Bahrain in hosting this annual conference, because of the good reputation of the kingdom in embracing various events and providing support and assistance to achieve the desired goals. Highly appreciating the efforts made by the organizing committee to organize, arrange and process this important event, wishing the conference and the contestants all success.
H.E. the Minister of Oil said that the Kingdom of Bahrain is the first country in the Middle East where the Toastmasters Club was established in 1964, where the Manama Toastmasters Club paved the way for the creation of more than 13,000 clubs around the world with the aim of training members to develop various skills. H.E. is concerned about the importance of such youth events aimed at the development of human cadres in several fields, as the Toastmasters program provides a positive educational environment stimulating the development of skills such as speaking, listening, thinking and other skills that contribute to the promotion of self-confidence.
H.E. the Minister pointed out that the world today is witnessing many difficulties, challenges and failures, but it is important for the human being to strive towards progress and overcome these failures through hard work in learning, creativity and development and re-attempts without despair to reach the realization of ambitions and successes at various levels.
In conclusion, H.E. the Minister of Oil, warmly thanked the organizers, supporters, speakers, participants, and all those who contributed to the success of this milestone in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and wished for a successful conference.
The event was attended by a number of local, regional and global speakers, including Mr. Richard Beck, first Vice President of Toastmasters International, and Ms. Cheryl Roche, CEO of Sparkle, Mr. Lance Miller, world champion of rhetoric 2005, and Mr. Kamal Shihabi, the half-role final at the 2018 World Public Speaking Championships and Mr. Sami, founder and head of investment for training and development.
Toastmasters International is one of the leading public speaking and leadership organizations that aim to "empower individuals to become active spokespersons and leaders in society." In addition to organizing various programs specialized in leadership and communication for all groups of society, with the aim of developing their abilities and skills in various fields. The event was attended by more than 400 participants from around the world, which witnessed the creation of competitions in Arabic and English between the heroes of all participating countries in four categories: assessment speeches, comic speeches, impromptu speeches and global speeches.
