Under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, GPCA's 10th edition of PlastiCon and the 6th edition of Research and Innovation (R&I) Summit will be held at ART Rotana, Amwaj Islands, Bahrain during the period 11-12 March 2019 and 13-14 March 2019. With a numerical participation of VIPs, specialists, technicians and academics from different countries of the world. This event is organized by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), in cooperation with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and with the support of a number of local, regional and international companies.

H.E. the Minister of Oil welcomed the holding of such specialized events in the petrochemical and chemical industries in the Kingdom of Bahrain, praising the efforts of the organizing committee to organize and arrange this important event. Wishing all the best and success to achieve the desired goals and make use of the technical papers in the development of specialized works in this vital field.

H.E. the Minister said that the world today is witnessing fierce competition amongst various international companies and many challenges in the context of globalization and digitization that need to work hard to overcome these difficulties and challenges by entering through the portal of innovation and the development research, which produces new products that matches modern global specifications and high-level quality that enable them to maintain competitiveness in this dynamic variable market.

H.E. the Minister highly appreciated the active participation of various companies, technicians, specialists and academics in this forum, which gives a good opportunity to share knowledge and experience related to this vital sector among relevant experts at the local, regional and international level and among all participants of professionals and providers of technical and productive services. As well as to identify the latest developments and challenges faced by the petrochemical and chemical industry.

There are more than 300 participants from 81 companies specializing in this vital area that will participate in this forum to learn about the latest technology in this aspect. The forum's activities will include a unique program through which scientific research and practical experiments will be presented and discussed by 22 global speakers from senior officials in oil companies and other related companies. The most important topics in this forum are: digitization and its impact on research and innovation in chemical industry, oil technology to chemicals from a research and development perspective, artificial intelligence and control of processes 2.0 and other important topics.

The 6th GPCA R&I Summit will see the launch of the Innovation Competition, GPCA's latest initiative, aimed at promoting innovation among university students in the Arabian Gulf region.
