Participates in the 101 meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC)

H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, participated in the 101 meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), which is hosted by Kuwait on Sunday, December 23, 2019, under the chairmanship of H.E. Eng. Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Industry, with a wide participation of oil, petroleum and energy ministers of the country members.

H.E. the Minister of Oil expressed his great pleasure in participating in this meeting with the ministers in charge of the oil and gas sector in the Member States of OAPEC to review and discuss several important topics related to the process of joint petroleum cooperation between Member States and ways to support and strengthen the Arab cooperation in the field of oil and gas.

H.E. also stressed that this annual meeting is held to discuss the topics on the agenda, which contribute to the promotion of cooperation and coordination, as well as the exchange of views on the conditions of the world oil market and matters related to the oil and gas sector. Noting that such meetings contribute to reach the positive results that serve the oil and gas sector and the economies of the Member States, and achieve the objectives that were set forth in establishing the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries established in 1968 to exchange information and experience and to establish joint ventures in various aspects of activities in the oil and gas industry.

    

H.E. the Minister has indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to participate actively in international forums that allow the Kingdom to participate and be closely acquainted with the various opportunities and to hold many discussions and meetings with senior officials in the oil and gas authorities in the countries that produce and consume oil, as well as officials in the world oil organizations. H.E. highly appreciated the good leadership and support for the oil, gas and energy sector in the Kingdom, which came with inevitable results, hopefully, in achieving a lot of achievements in the service of the national economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

H.E. the Minister said that the agenda of this inter-ministerial meeting of OAPEC may be one of several items, the most important of which is the discussion and approval of the draft budget of the Organization (the Secretariat and the Judiciary) for 2019, and the Council reviewed the activities of the General Secretariat in 2018, including studies and research prepared by the organization. As well as the conferences, symposia and meetings I have held or participated in, including the 11th Arab Energy Conference held in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco, from 1-4 October 2018, and the World Petroleum conferences and participation in meetings related to climate changes and environmental affairs and follow-up negotiations on developments in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement.

H.E. noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain was represented by Mr. Faihan Al Faihani, Deputy CEO for Strategies and International Relations of the National Oil and Gas Authority, the 152 meeting of the Executive Office in Kuwait on December 20 and 21, 2018, which preceded the meeting of the Organization's Council of Ministers.
