Oil Minister participates in GCC Petroleum Cooperation Committee Meeting

Minister of Oil His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa participated in the 35th meeting of the Petroleum Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 23.



The GCC Ministers discussed a number of topics at the meeting and made decisions on all key topics discussed:



The Ministers reviewed recommendations of the 16th Meeting of the GCC Oil Ministers’ Undersecretaries, held discussions and made suitable decisions. They discussed issues related to GCC stance on World Trade Organization and free trade agreements, and reviewed the Secretariat memorandum on GCC petroleum media strategy, unified mining system by committee of mineral resources officials in GCC countries. They also reviewed the report of the GCC Working Group assigned to study and follow up the developments of the meetings of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol. They discussed the Secretariat’s memorandum on the petroleum media specialists committee meetings with Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Organization (OAPEC), reviewed the Secretariat memorandum on regional emergency plan for petroleum products in the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as the one on cooperation between the GCC countries in the field of renewable energy in addition to Supreme Council resolutions for joint action.



H.E. Shaikh Mohammed was accompanied to the meeting by Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Sharyan, the General Secretary of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), Engineer Jassim Isa Al Shirawi, General Manager, Oil and Gas Affairs, Mr. Faihan Mohammed Al Faihani Director of the Policies and Oil Statistics and Miss Ezz Al Mannai, Head of Oil Policies.



The meeting was preceded by the 16th Undersecretaries meeting on October 9, which was attended by Dr. Al Sharyan and Mr. Al Faihani.
